Video-Based Character Animation
Jonathan Starck, Gregor Miller and Adrian Hilton
Video-Based Character Animation A video-based representation for free viewpoint visualisation and motion control of 3D character models is introduced. Image-based reconstruction and video-based animation are fused to allow controlled animation of people from multiple view video sequences. Geometry videos represent animations which are combined through motion graphs to represent characters. Motion blending for transitions between animations is achieved through spherical matching. Characters are rendered in real-time in a virtual environment.

Presented in Los Angeles, July 2005 at the Symposium on Computer Animation (SCA).
